The Kian Carmello Hamilton Foundation was established in memory of Kian—a vibrant young life lost too soon to violence. Our mission is to transform our grief into a force for good, promoting awareness and providing support to prevent future tragedies.

Our Story

A Journey of Resilience & Hope

In August 2024, our family faced an unimaginable loss when 16-year-old Kian Carmello Hamilton was tragically taken from us in an act of violence. In the midst of our grief, we made a promise that Kian’s life and light would not be forgotten. We established the Kian Carmello Hamilton Foundation in early 2025 to channel our sorrow into purpose. What began as a way to honor Kian’s memory has grown into a mission to protect and uplift others.

With the support of friends, neighbors, and even strangers moved by Kian’s story, we turned pain into purpose – determined to help create a world where love and community triumph over violence.

About Kian

A Journey of Resilience & Hope

Kian Carmello Hamilton was a vibrant young man who brought joy to everyone around him. He was a student at Jordan High School in Sandy, Utah, and a proud member of the school’s baseball team. Known for his kind heart and an infectious smile, Kian had a special gift for making people laugh and feel included. He loved sports – especially baseball – and cherished time with his family and friends. Intelligent, funny, and caring, Kian had big dreams for the future and a personality that left a mark on all who knew him.

When a candlelight vigil was held in his honor, hundreds of classmates, teachers, and neighbors came together – a testament to how many lives Kian touched in his 16 years.

Our Team

The foundation is led by Kian’s family, supported by a dedicated team of friends and community leaders.

Kian’s mother, Dawn Alley, serves as the foundation’s president and spearheads our initiatives with passion and love. Alongside her are close family members and allies who share a personal connection to Kian and a deep commitment to our cause. We may be a small team, but we are driven by immense determination and heart. Our board and volunteers bring together experience from different backgrounds – education, counseling, event planning, and more – all united by the goal of making a positive impact in Kian’s memory. As we grow, we remain rooted in the values Kian embodied: kindness, community, and courage.
